Advice for International Fishing Operation License Holders

Notification Requirement for Vessels Traveling Through BIOT EEZ

Attention: International fishing operation license holders operating multi-day fishing vessels must notify BIOT in advance when traveling through the BIOT Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to the Arabian Sea for fishing.

Application Process

The required application form can be obtained by meeting with the Fisheries Inspector / Port Operations Officer.

As a Vessel Owner or Skipper, you must complete and submit the application form in the following situations:

  • When traveling from Sri Lanka to the Arabian Sea through the BIOT EEZ.
  • When returning from the Arabian Sea to Sri Lanka through the BIOT EEZ.

Submission Requirements

The completed form must be promptly submitted to BIOT through one of the following channels:

The original document must also be submitted to the Fisheries Operations Office.

Important Deadline

You are responsible for ensuring that the application form is submitted to BIOT between 12 to 48 hours before entering BIOT waters.

⚠ Failure to comply with this requirement may result in operational delays or penalties.
